Toronto's Blue Jays advanced to their initial World Series following the 1993 season by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the seventh game seven of the ALCS.

Behind by two runs, the star outfielder delivered a three-run home run in the seventh inning, leading the only Canadian franchise in Major League Baseball to a four games to three victory in the best-of-seven series. They will now face the defending champions, the team that is the defending champions, in the anticipated championship.

"I'm thrilled for our team, Toronto, the nation," Springer stated, an integral part of the Houston Astros team that won the 2017 title. "It's truly an unbelievable moment."

George Springer has now hit 23 total playoff homers, making him third all-time after Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).

"There's probably not another person anywhere that I'd prefer in that situation other than George Springer with his post-season brilliance," noted Schneider.

Seattle, who had led the series two games to none and three games to two, are still the one club never to appear in a World Series.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson stated "without a doubt that it's painful" in the wake of his club's elimination at their home ballpark, but praised their performance throughout the year.

"It's a special team. Unfortunately that we finished on the unsuccessful side of the series," he added.

The Blue Jays won the championship on both previous visits in 1992 and 1993, and will welcome the Los Angeles in game one on this Friday.
