Correspondence Highlight Jeffrey Epstein and former Trump strategist Connection

Steve Bannon
Bannon was one of Trump's top strategists before resigning from the administration in 2017

In late 2018, Steve Bannon, previously a top aide to Donald Trump, was in the UK preparing for a speech at the prestigious Oxford Union.

The event was interrupted by hundreds of demonstrators, and Bannon, scheduled to board a flight that evening, told Jeffrey Epstein in an email: "Protesters slowed down my talk I doubt I can make the plane we r enroute to heathrow".

Epstein replied: "That. Is a gulf air departing at 9:50 with a layover in Bahrain". Bannon replied: "You are an amazing helper".

These messages were published on Wednesday together with more than 20,000 pages from the estate of Epstein, the late convicted sex offender.

The disclosure by the House oversight committee includes an text conversation where Bannon's identity is redacted. The BBC managed to establish his identity by matching the dates, events, and places mentioned.

For example, Epstein talks about arranging a plane from Scotland for the unnamed individual in the chat, and commends their "address at Oxford". Bannon took part in the Edinburgh conference on November 14, and delivered the speech at the Oxford Union on November 16.

Bannon, who is not accused of any misconduct, declined to comment on the inquiry.

'I'll make sure you're well looked after'

Bannon served as the president's key aides in the run up to the 2016 election and in the early days of his first administration, but resigned from the White House in August 2017.

He has acknowledged he was making a film about Epstein prior to his death and reportedly has around 15 hours of footage. In a live taping of his podcast earlier this year, he stated: "We're going to release the series, the five-part series, in the coming year - at the start of next year."

But the newly released materials indicate Bannon's relationship with Epstein extended than being his biographer, with the disgraced financier occasionally seeming to act like a aide.

A few days before the exchange in which Epstein appeared to have arranged a private plane for Bannon, Epstein said: "what's it like to have the highest-paid booking agent in history ".

Bannon thanked him: "U r pretty good assistant", to which Epstein replied "Therapies. Not Included".

Discussing a trip to "Abu Dhabi" in another message, Epstein assured Bannon: "I will ensure you're well looked after."

UK Politics Mentioned in Exchanges

The published communications also show Bannon and Epstein talking about British political matters in 2018.

On the same day his address at the Oxford, Bannon texted Epstein: "I became involved in the Brexit thing this morning with Farage, Johnson and Rees Mogg."

Then, in what seems like a reference to Theresa May, the struggling British leader at the period, he continued: "They are trying to move on. may soon…"

Epstein advised Bannon: "I think remaining as much as you can uk. Ideal- so others see the dedication of your follow through."

Soon after, Epstein inquired: "Can Theresa May remain in power". Bannon replied: "I don't see how however the people here have no balls" and added "Boris ; Gove; Rees Mogg; Davis - someone has to take charge".

Theresa May was finally toppled in 2019 after withstanding multiple attempts of no confidence in late 2018.

A representative for Reform UK told media: "Nigel Farage has not been in a meeting with Bannon, Rees-Mogg and Johnson." And there is no evidence that encounter occurred.

The Congress will decide next week on whether the Department of Justice should release all its files concerning its probe into Epstein, who passed away in prison in that year.

Interest in Epstein's relationships with influential individuals was reignited this week after the publication of more than 20,000 pages from his estate.

Some of those mentioned Trump, who has repeatedly rejected any wrongdoing. The leader was a friend of Epstein's for a long time, but claims they fell out in the early 2000s, a couple of years before Epstein was first arrested.
