Former Doctor Accused of Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care

Legal authorities report that a former physician now faces charges for carrying out sexual assaults involving 38 victims who were patients.

The Serious Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of acts of sexual assault – including acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.

A senior prosecutor commented, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

The Police Inquiry

The charges follow what police called a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

Breakdown of Charges

Prosecutors outline the 45 sexual offences comprise:

  • Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.

Authorities have asked anyone with concerns to get in touch with the relevant police force.
