Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Has The Club's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's natural for concerns to be asked about his position after another convincing defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their ninth defeat in 12 games, marking the team's poorest streak after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a punishing evening at their home ground.

ā€œI feel secure, I'm fine, I have got significant support from above,ā€ Slot commented.

ā€œIt would be nice to turn it around and get a victory obviously but if you are coaching a team and not doing well then it's expected that questions are asked.ā€

He added, ā€œI accept my situation. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.ā€

Talks with Club Management

When asked to provide details on his conversations with the team officials, Slot explained:

ā€œThere's regular dialogue. They are helpful to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me all the time each day to say they trust me.ā€

He further stated, ā€œThrough standard exchanges I feel the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them since this defeat so far so it remains to be seen.ā€

Persistent Issues and Squad Response

The manager expressed regret over recurring failings from his Liverpool side in their European loss, namely missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his assessment of the current crisis.

ā€œI don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to all,ā€ Jones said.

ā€œIt's simply not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I’m past feeling anger inside. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the phrases.ā€

He went on, ā€œIt’s hard because I play for the team I support. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.ā€

ā€œFor many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a phase such as this with results like these.ā€

Jones concluded, ā€œHowever we still have the emblem on our shirts. And as long as that badge is removed, we will always fight.ā€

ā€œOur aim is to get this team return to the top, prove again what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the best team in the world.ā€

ā€œBut right now, things are bad and it needs to change.ā€
