A charity drive is aiming to launch a Palestinian lullaby to the peak of the festive singles chart. The effort hopes to provide aid to communities in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian cultural expression.

An Opportunity for Unity and an "Surprise Victory"

Renowned figure Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a opportunity to support Palestinians during the holidays. He noted the potential for an unexpected chart success.

“It would be incredible if that came to pass, yes,” he said. “I’m not gonna be completely disheartened if it doesn’t, festive releases are a thing unto themselves.”

Defiant Message of Self-Determination

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the reimagining of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's defiant core message.

“The song holds a deeply meaningful spot for countless listeners,” Barghouti said. “The essence is that I would choose to perish with honor than live a life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we desire to exist a dignified life that we merit as a people.”

Recording Origins and Star-Studded Lineup

The song was recorded after a solidarity show held in September. First conceived to be captured during the live event, the rendition was shelved during the concert due to scheduling overruns.

The diverse array of artists appearing on Lullaby features a range of prominent voices from the industry. All took part in the earlier concert, which managed to collect a considerable total for charitable causes.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was crafted by a trio of talented individuals. The single features a mix of the heritage language with freshly written English words.

The group managing the initiative have emphasized that their aim is to generate maximum funds for a specific fund. These resources will be distributed to projects in Palestine through an established charity.

“We haven't set a specific target,” a representative explained. “We aim for the maximum achievable. Of course, the more the merrier. All proceeds are directed out to those in need in Gaza.”

The context in the area was characterized as its profound destruction, with a huge proportion of infrastructure said to be levelled or seriously harmed.

“Against that backdrop, a few million won't make an enormous impact. But I think the significant factor is above all making this cause better known and demonstrating there’s another side to the story.”

The song is scheduled for release this Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the solidarity show will be made accessible to view on a digital service from the 19th of December.
